Beauty and the Beach Run
Together We Stride: Family Run or Walk for Aslan Youth
Greetings to everyone who has participated in our Beauty & The Beach Run.
If memory serves, our first Beauty Race took place in 2008. Since COVID-19, however, Beauty has drawn fewer runners, and last year, only 15 brave souls faced the stormy weather to run the race at Sandy Hook.
From its inception, Beauty and The Beach Run has been a race dedicated to benefiting the children of Aslan. Remarkably, 2025 will mark our 50th year of serving disadvantaged African American children in Monmouth County.
Three years ago, we introduced a hybrid version of the race, allowing participants to gather friends and walk for a cause alongside our on-site event. During that time, various “Friends of Aslan” helped secure sponsors to truly support Aslan’s mission. While Beauty was never a major fundraiser in the past, over the last four years, our dedicated participants and their sponsors have raised $30,000 annually, making it our largest fundraising event of the year!
Unfortunately, hosting the 5-mile and 5K runs at Sandy Hook this year was impossible. However, we plan to return them for our 50th-anniversary celebration next year. We are taking this year to assess and plan the best possible way to host a revamped Beauty and Beach Run.
In the meantime, we are declaring all of October 2024 as Beauty and the Beach Month to raise the funds we need to continue our work. If you’d like to start your own fundraising team to help our children, or support Aslan or a team, please sign up through this Zeffy link.
Again, Thank you for your continued interest in the Beauty & The Beach Run. May God bless all of you who have been runners (and “donors”) since Beauty’s beginning. We look forward to this year, and next, as we retool the race to serve the amazing kids, we are privileged to help better.
