Aslan Youth Ministries is a faith-based nonprofit grounded in Judeo-Christian values that was founded in 1975 to serve urban, at-risk children in Monmouth County. Aslan’s programs include Mentoring & Tutoring, Right Choices Character Development, Educational Enrichment, Recreation & Summer Camps.

Bus/Van Driver
Mission
It is the mission of the Bus/Van Driver to fully support the overall mission of Aslan (providing programs that directly impact the emotional, physical and spiritual needs of disadvantaged African-American youth and their families) through: Providing safe and reliable transportation for each child riding on the Aslan bus.
Responsibilities
- Drive the bus or van for weekly youth classes, field trips and special activities, ensuring the safety of each child participating in these programs.
- Provide support for Aslan bus staff by helping maintain order on the bus.
- Maintain positive relationships with church pastors and/or related individuals in the churches and buildings where Aslan conducts its Youth Class programs.
- Keep bus filled with diesel; check oil on weekly basis; full check of vehicle before each bus run.
- Report to the Executive Program Director.
Knowledge Base
- Class B New Jersey articulated driver’s license required to drive 52 passenger school bus.
Skill Set
- Excellent driving record and driving skills.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
Statistics
- Periodic verbal or written reports to Executive Program Director regarding problems encountered or positive things happening with children.
- Periodic verbal or written reports to Executive Program Director regarding status of bus and any mechanical or other problems encountered.
