Summer Day Camps

Summer Learning: Aslan Summer Day Camps

Aslan’s commitment to year-round learning continues each summer through our Summer Day Camps in Red Bank, Long Branch, Asbury Park, and Neptune. These camps serve as an important extension of our after-school program, helping children maintain and build upon the academic progress they’ve made during the school year.

Through encouragement and the guidance of caring adults, Aslan helps children reach beyond their limitations and, with God’s help, discover the strength to endure, grow, and succeed.

Aslan Summer Day Camp Experience

Our summer camps are carefully designed to balance fun, learning, and personal growth. Two days each week are dedicated to special enrichment field trips, often to the beach or to programs offered through the Monmouth County Park System (MCPS). At MCPS, children are introduced to new skills such as rock climbing, in-line skating, and environmental exploration.

On the remaining three days, campers participate in a variety of on-site activities, including:

  • Arts and crafts projects that foster creativity

  • Sports activities that build teamwork and fitness

  • Classes in music, science, and computers to reinforce academic learning

  • Devotional studies that nurture character development

Thanks to the generous support of local churches, each child receives a nutritious lunch daily, ensuring that basic needs are met so students can focus on learning and thriving.

Parent-Child Bonding Activities

Recognizing the vital role families play in a child’s success, Aslan organizes special field trips and family engagement events to strengthen the bond between children and their parents or caregivers. These shared experiences help build trust, communication, and stronger family foundations.

Enrichment Activities

Beyond academics and recreation, Aslan provides year-round enrichment opportunities designed to expand children’s creativity, critical thinking, and environmental stewardship.

Through this unique experience, Aslan students:

  • Integrate ocean elements—such as seashells, seaweed, and marine life into 3D-printed mask designs.

  • Explore marine environments through hands-on activities like boat trips and environmental education.

  • Showcase their completed artwork in a special Monmouth University exhibition.

Projects like these inspire our students to dream beyond their immediate circumstances, deepen their connection to the world around them, and develop important academic and personal skills.

Why Summer Learning Matters

Without structured summer programs, children from low-income backgrounds often experience learning loss and fall further behind academically—a phenomenon known as the “summer slide.” Meanwhile, their more affluent peers benefit from enriching summer activities that enhance their skills.

Through summer tutoring, enrichment day camps, and hands-on experiences, Aslan helps close the opportunity gap, ensuring that every child returns to school prepared, confident, and inspired.

We can’t provide these life-changing programs without your help!
