Earnest grew up in a single-parent home in Red Bank, New Jersey and started attending Aslan at age 7 when he joined our Right Choices Bible classes. There was something very special about this very smart young man, so we quickly paired him with a mentor to help him with his studies. While some of his friends were not doing well in school, Earnest’s mentor helped him stay focused on learning and his grades were great! In addition to tutoring, he was riding on blue Aslan bus to summer camps & enrichment programs. One of his favorite things was riding his bike for our Cheesequake Challenge and our very challenging Pocono Mountains Thunder Ride.
During his junior & senior year of high school, Earnest was a member of our leadership group for Aslan teens. Our Board member who taught the class encouraged him in his desire to become an engineer. While attending high school, Aslan also helped arrange for Earnest to work at AT&T Bell labs on a summer scholarship. Upon graduation from high school, we provided over $20,000 of scholarship assistance to Earnest to attend Georgia Tech.
Before graduating from Georgia Tech, Earnest received an internship at NASA and, upon graduation, was hired by NASA. Currently, Earnest has become the head of IT (Information Technology) for Delta Airlines Federal Credit Union, the largest FCU in Georgia! In a recent visit with this extremely accomplished young man, he shared about his love for biking that began with Aslan. It’s still a huge part of his life, and he regularly cycles hundreds of miles per week, including long-distance trips to Alabama!
